Revelstoke is ideally located on the Trans Canada Highway #1, only just over 4 hours west of Calgary Alberta and just over 5 hours east of Vancouver, British Columbia. Revelstoke is also on the cross-roads of Highway #23 north and south, the perfect access to the West Kootenay region. Revelstoke is also only 2 ½ hours from Kelowna International Airport and there is a seasonal shuttle service available.
Revelstoke is situated on the Columbia River under the majestic Monashee and Columbia Mountain Ranges with glacier views of Mount Begbie and Mount McPherson. Revelstoke is the western gateway to the BC Rockies region. Immediately above the City of Revelstoke is Mount Revelstoke National Park with paved road access to the high-alpine summit. The viewscapes are unparalleled and just about anyone can take in the views, smells and in-season wildflowers on the paved paths at the summit. Revelstoke’s rich railway heritage is personified at the Revelstoke Railway Museum where there is a steam locomotive and railcar as well as many other exhibits, all indoors. There are many other museums and historic attractions as well as the Revelstoke Dam, which offers tours in the Summer months. Your clients could spend a full day just checking out all the various museums, the gallery and attractions.
Winter offers some of the best downhill skiing opportunities in North America at Revelstoke Mountain Resort. This gondola-serviced resort has the most vertical in North America, not to mention the 50+ feet (15+ m) of annual snowfall. RMR offers luxury on-hill accommodation, full-service restaurant and amenities. There is a free ski shuttle from many of the accommodation properties in Revelstoke to the ski resort every day during the winter months.
Snowmobiling is also offers some of the best terrain and deep powder snow that Western Canada has to offer. Revelstoke is known as the Powder Snow Capital of Canada. Operators offer guided tours and snowmobile rentals, usually from November to April.
